2nd Day of Navratri – Goddess in Maa Brahmacharini roopa.“Brahma” means “the one self-existent Spirit, the Absolute Truth, the Universal Self, the Holy Knowledge, the Personal God.” “Charini” means “occupation with, participating, continuing, conducting, actions, following, moving inside, going after.” She is the goddess of penance and asceticism, as the female counterpart of one who practises Brahmacharya is her name. The word ‘Nav’ means nine and ‘Ratri’ means night in Sanskrit, so ‘Navratri’ means nine festival nights, during which nine kinds of goddesses are worshipped.

On Dwitiya, another incarnation of Parvati, Goddess Brahmacharini, is worshipped. Parvati has become Sati, her unmarried self, in this shape. For liberation or moksha and the endowment of harmony and prosperity, Brahmacharini is revered. She symbolises happiness and calm, depicted as walking bare feet with a japamala and kamandal in her hands. Blue is the 2nd day of navratri color code. The blue colour reflects tranquilly and powerful energy.

The Mother Goddess, Maa Brahmacharini, was born to Prajapati Daksha as his daughter Sati and later married Shiva. This is her way of remaining unmarried. Parvati, Aparna, Uma, Patlabati are her other names.

2nd Day of Navratri Puja/Navratri Second Day Puja

Make an arrangement for her bath, firstly. The idol of Maa Brahmacharini is first washed with Panchamrit, a mixture of five things usually made up of honey, sugar , milk, curd, and ghee used in Hindu puja. You need flowers, roli, akshat, and sandalwood to perform Goddess Brahmacharini‘s puja. Then pray to the Navagrahas and your Ishta Devta, who are holding a flower in your lap, and chant a dedicated mantra to the  2nd day of navratri Goddess.

It is believed that the Goddess is fond of hibiscus and lotus flowers, so give her a garland made of these flowers and perform aarti.
