Domlur Chokkanathaswamy Temple:

Chokkanathaswamy Temple is devoted to the deity called Chokkanathaswamy or Chokka Perumal (the Hindu god Vishnu) at Domlur in the Indian town of Bangalore. It is one of the city’s oldest shrines, dating back to the 10th century AD chola era.

Domlur Chokkanathaswamy Temple History:

This Chokkanathaswamy temple during the Chola period is regarded to be Bangalore’s oldest temple. There are several remarkable carvings and ornamental characteristics in the complex and the temple face east.

One inscription from Tamil dating from 1270 A.D.It is stated on a door frame that the gates were donated by one Alagiyar and another inscription indicates the donation by one Talaikattu and another inscription dated 1290 A.D.Reports that Poysala Vira Ramananda made donations to the temple. Navrang style Vijayanagara and subsequent editions are pillars.
