Mangaladevi Temple
The Mangaladevi Temple is a Hindu temple at Bolara in the city of Mangalore in Karnataka Indian state, situated about three kilometers southwest of the city center. The temple is dedicated in the form of Mangaladevi, to the Hindu god Shakti. Mangalore city is named for Mangaladevi, the presiding deity.This is one of the best temples in mangalore.
Mangaladevi Temple History:
The Mangaladevi Temple is of significant antiquity, and it is believed that Kundavarman, the most famous king of the Alupa dynasty during the 9th century under the aegis of Matsyendranath, was built during the 9th century. According to another story, Parashurama, one of the ten avatars of Hindu god Vishnu and later expanded by Kundavarman, is claiming the temple was created.
The temple is constructed in architecture of the Kerala style, popular in all temples in the South Indian state of Kerala and Western Ghats, with most of its wooden structure. In the central shrine the presiding deity, Mangaladevi, is in a seated posture. Other deities have shrines around the sanctum.The temple is acquired and administered by trustees in modern times.
