Nandavaram Chowdeshwari Temple:

Nandavaram Chowdeshwari Temple (Nandavaram Temple) is best known for the Goddess “CHOWDESHWARI DEVI” Temple. Nandavaram is a small village in the Banganapalli Mandal of Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh in India. Nandavaram is earlier days called as Nandavarapuram. Here the Goddess CHOWDESHWARI DEVI is also known as Kashi Visalakshi.

Nandavaram Chowdeshwari Temple History:

The History says that the Devi Chowdeshwari come all the way from Varanasi to Nandavaram an Underground Tunnel(which we can see on the temple premises) in one day. Srichakra is present infront of the deity so, the piligrims can perform kunkuma Archana by paying fee.

Chowdeshwari Devi is Presiding deity of Nandavarik Brahmin Community so, they took great responsibility in funding this Temple. Nandavarik Brahmins are allowed to enter the Garbhagriha and perform the Pooja rituals to Goddess. Nandana chakravarthy was built this Famous Chowdeshwari Devi Temple. The original Chowdeshwari Moorthi looked very fearful to watch so, it was kept hidden behind the Garbhagriha doors ana a similar deity was made with similar resemblance but with less fearful lookings. The 60 feet high Gopuram built in early 16th century is another main attraction of temple. It resembles the Dravidian style Architecture.

Daily: Morning 5:00 am – 1:00 pm

           Evening 3:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Sunday: Morning 5:00 am – 2:00 pm

               Evening 3:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Abishekam : 5:00 am – 5:30 am

Maha Mangala Aarti : 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Nandavaram is located Between Panyam and Banganapalli. The distance of this Temple from Banganapalli is 11km’s ,19km’s from Panyam, 21km’s from Yaganti, 32km’s from Nandyal, 49km’s from Mahanandi, 75km’s from Kurnool, 287 km’s from Hyderabad, 348 km’s away from Bangalore.

By Bus

There are Number of bus services from Nandyal and Banaganapalli to Nandavaram.

By Train

The Nearest Railway station is at Panyam 19km’s away and Nandyal 32km’s away from Nandavaram.

By Air

The Nearest Airport is Kadapa and Hyderabad. From there Hire, a bus or train to Nandavaram.

Festivals Celebrated at Nandavaram Chowdeshwari Temple

The main Festivals Celebrated in Nandavaram are Chowdeshwari Jathara and Devi Navaratrulu. During Devi Navaratrulu period devotees from Andhra Pradesh and Other States come here to get blessings of Goddess. A large number of Devotees visit this temple every Monday, Tuesday and especially Friday. Chowdeshwari Jyoti celebrations in Nandavaram village in the Months of March and April. Jyoti utsav is celebrated for 3days during Ugadi Festival period.
