In 2002, the same Shivacharya performed another Maha Kumbhabhishekam in the temple. It is believed that the powers in the idols with black stone are gradually reduced and the process of installation is done with ashta bandhana and kumbhabhishekam. During this festival time two new shrines were recently made to the temple, the Sannidhi of Hanuman and Navagrahas Sannidhi. A new hall or mandapam has also been constructed in the temple for conducting community events and cultural events.

Architecture of Karthikeya Swamy temple

The temple has idols of Murugan flanked by idols of Devasena and Valli. The temple precinct or Prahara also has idols of Goddess Krishna Mariamman, Ganesha, Vishnu, Durga, Brahma, Dakshina Murthy, Chandigeswara and Nartana Ganapati. All the idols in the temple are carved by artisans from Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu. Maha Swami of Kanchi Sankara Mutt named this god as Karthikeya Swami. The idols were moved from Mahabalipuram to Chandigarh with utmost care. The temple was built in the architectural style of the Pallava, Chola and Pandya dynasties. The Karthikeya Swamy temple is designed in such a way that devotees can view the traditional gopuram and the idol of the main deity at the same time. This tower is also known as Vimhanam. This practice of viewing the gopuram and the idol simultaneously is mentioned in Puranas.

Sri Karthikeya Swamy Temple timings are during the Summer season from Morning 06:00 am to 01:00 pm and Evening from 06:00 pm to 09:00 pm. In the Winter season from Morning 06:00 am to 01:00 pm and 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm.
