Mahayogi Lakshmamma Temple:

Adoni Lakshmamma Temple is located in Adoni in Kurnool district.Bhagavan Sri Mahayogi Lakshmamma was a supremely sublime Avadhoota. She was born into a poor family in Moosaanipalli, a small village seven kilometres from Adoni. Gundamma and Bandeppa were the lucky parents.

Mahayogi Lakshmamma Temple History:

Mahayogi Lakshmamma was running around nude, mumbling seemingly incomprehensible words because she was an Avadhoota by birth. People were perplexed by her spiritually elevated state and assumed she was insane. Her parents married her to a young man named Mareppa, believing that marriage would cure her of her madness. However, she revealed her true spiritual status to her husband and returned to her father’s house the same night in her normal state. Mahayogi Lakshamma exalted soul is immune to marriage and earthly pleasures.

People who threw stones at mahayogi lakshmamma avva and inflicted injuries on her met with a swift end. Her curses obliterated them right away. This demonstrates the impact of her speech. Such evil people who inflict pain to God’s beloved saints are never forgiven.

She arrived in Adoni with a group of people who were there for the weekly fair. She sat down next to a trash can on the side of the road. She started to wander around naked, eating whatever she could find. She was dubbed Thotti Lakshamma (in Telugu, Thotti means rubbish dump) and Adoni Thikka Lakshamma (in Telugu, Thikka means madness) because she lived next to a garbage dump.

Miracles of Mahayogi Lakshmamma

With her speech, mahayogi lakshmamma avva cured cancer in the husband of a poor woman named Gowramma. Such was the impact of her words. As an offering, the grateful Gowramma gave her a small anna (one sixteenth of a rupee). In a short time, however, Lakshmammaavva’s grace transformed the poor woman into the owner of sixty acres of land. Even a small offering made from a pure heart would yield great results.

After consuming her blessed fruits, many childless women were blessed with children.

mahayogi lakshmamma avva used to predict impending natural disasters and calamities with her odd and almost insignificant movements and behaviour. Her omniscience was astounding.

On the 16th of May 1933 (Vaisakha Bahula Saptami, according to the Hindu Calendar), she joined Jeeva Samadhi, and that day has been celebrated as a festival day with special poojas ever since. On that day, a cart festival is also held, complete with pomp and circumstance. Many changes have occurred recently, including the commissioning of a silver chariot with loving offerings from devotees, the temple receiving a silver foil covering, a golden covering for the idol, and numerous precious gold and diamond ornaments. For the past thirteen years, the silver Cart (Rajatha Ratha) has been used in the Cart Procession. Devotees have come from all over the world to visit the mahayogi lakshmamma temple. On June 8, 2017, a massive Granite Arch (on the Alur-Adoni Road) was inaugurated to welcome devotees.

Avva temples have been built in Moosaanipalli, mahayogi lakshmamma avva birthplace, and several other locations in and around Adoni.
