Mayapur is situated on the banks of the Ganges, near Navadweepa, 130 km north of Kolkata, at its confluence with Jalangi. ISKCON’s headquarters are in Mayapur and it is considered a holy place by many other traditions of Hinduism, but it holds special significance for followers of Gaudiya Vaishnavism as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a special incarnation of Krishna. ISKCON Mayapur Temple is visited by Millions of Pilgrims throughout the year.

Architecture of ISKCON Mayapur:
Construction of the ISKCON temple in Mayapur started in the year 2010 and it is expected to be completed by the year 2022. The structure of the ISKCON Mayapur temple is covered of east and west and the first floor of the temple was spreaded over 2.5 acres of land. It has 20m tall Vedic chandeliers with a 60 m diameter temple floor. The area of the temple is about 70,000 sq.ft and the height is 380 feet. The temple top is covered with blue Bolivian marbles, which were imported from Vietnam and some sourced from India, thus the temple was in Western culture form.
After the mayapur mandir was attacked by robbers in 1986, an idol of Lord Nrisimhadeva was erected in the center of the premises. Arare form of the Lord which was in with bended knees and angry red eyes looks like, ready to emerge from the pillar that to attack the demons and protect his devotees. It is known as Sthanu Narasimha. The ISKCON temple in Mayapur is the only place where this form of God is worshipped. The third altar in the temple compound is called as Sri Sri pancha tattva temple. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu along with his associates Sri Nityananda Prabhu, Sri Advaita Acharya, Sri Gadhadhara Pandita and Sri Srivasa Thakura can be seen here as larger than life deities and was established in 2004. A grand Narasimha Hall was going to open on ISKCON Mayapur temple in October 2023.
An amazing place is located inside the mayapur temple complex, Sri Chaitanya Exhibition where all the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu are artistically depicted through the medium of bas-reliefs on the walls. The same dramatic narration in Bengali is played through the audio system in the background. The exhibition timings are from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM and then from 04:00 PM to 06:00 PM.

The ISKCON Mayapur Mandir is open for visitors from 07:30 AM to 01:00 PM. The temple closes at 01:00 PM and then opens at 04:00 PM. It finally closes at 08:30 PM. The schedules of various aarti during the day are as follows:

How to Reach ISKCON Mayapur
By Air – Mayapur does not have an airport. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata is the Nearest Airport to the temple. It is 117 km from Mayapur. From the airport, you can take a taxi to reach Mayapur.
By Train – There is no railway station in Mayapur. You can travel by train from Howrah Junction Railway Station. The train passes through Nabadwip Dham. From Nabadwip Dham railway station, you can take a taxi to reach Mayapur. It is 30 km from Mayapur.
Food & Accommodation at ISKCON Mayapur
Food and accommodation are available at Geeta Bhavan, Gada Bhavan, and Namath Bhavan. Lunch and dinner are also provided. Lunch costs 50 to 60 rupees and dinner costs 40 to 50 rupees. Coupons are available for children at half price.
ISKCON Temple also has several eateries and drinking water facilities. Mahaprabhu Restaurant is also located in the temple premises. Here visitors can get pizza, pasta, samosa, sweets, idli, dosa, snacks, cake, burger, fruit juices, lunch, Mahaprasad and many other things.
There are a lot of hotels and lodges in between Ganga Ghat and Mayapur Chandrodaya mandir. It is available from Low range to luxury range hotels also.
