Catherine Falls Kotagairi:
Catherine Falls is a double-cascaded waterfall in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, located near Kotagiri, The Nilgiris District. It’s a popular tourist destination on the Mettupalayam road, which branches off at Aravenu. The upper fall, which is the second highest in the Nilgiri Mountains, lowers to the ground. Beyond the mountains towards the southwest, the invisible Mettupalayam-Ooty road crosses the waters of the Kallar River’s upper stream. Both falls have a combined height of about 76 meters (250 ft).
Catherine Water Falls is named for M.D. Cockburn’s wife, who is credited with bringing coffee plants to Kotagiri. Catherine Falls’ native name is Geddhehaada Halla, which translates to “Foothills Dale River.” From the top of Dolphin’s Nose, you can see the entire cascade. There is also a road that leads to the top of the kotagiri falls.
