About Sammakka Sarakka Jatara date 2024:
The Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Mahajatara dates for 2024 have been confirmed. Four days in February will be dedicated to celebrating the Mahajatara. The dates of the Medaram Mahajatara, scheduled for 2024, were declared by the temple priests. From February 21 to 24, there will be the Mahajatara.
Sarakka’s idol is transported from Kannepalli to Medaram on Day 1, February 21. The idol of Pagididda Raju is transported from Poonugondla to Medaram.
Day 2, February 22: Following lengthy pujas by the Koya tribes atop Chilakalagutta (the hill where the Kumkum coffin is housed), Sammakka’s idol and the Kumkum casket are taken to Medaram (typically by midnight). From Kondai to Medaram, the idol of Govinda Raju is transported.
Day 3, February 23: Sammakka and Saralamma are worshipped along with their respective consorts, Govinda Raju and Pagididda Raju. The Jatara concludes with the “Tallula Vanapravesham” (entrance into the forest) on Day 4, February 24. Up until the following Jatara, the Kumkum coffin is transported back to Chilakalagutta and stored there.
